The Division of Nephrology at the University Hospital Zurich (www.nephrologie.usz.ch)
is specialised in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with kidney
diseases. The Division has an ambulatory unit which follows patients
with all types of kidney problems, including patients with chronic renal
failure, vasculitis, glomerulonephritis and kidney stones, and patients
with a renal transplant. The Division also has special expertise in the
management of patients with genetic diseases, including polycystic
kidney disease. The diagnostic possibilities are state of the art,
including ultrasound and biopsy. The modern dialysis unit has twelve
beds and offers morning, afternoon and evening shifts for hemodialysis
treatment. There is also a peritoneal dialysis program for CAPD and
CCPD. The inpatient unit has 10 beds which is available for patients
which need a hospitalisation. In addition the consult team follows all
hospitalised patients with renal and electrolyte disorders. The Division
of Nephrology is internationally renowned for its research on genetic
renal diseases, renal inflammation and renal transplantation.
